Phormium Moonraker
A compact little flax with attractive variegated sword like leaves in shades of green and cream. The leaves have an arching habit. Will make the best impact if planted in groups. Hardy and easy to grow just about anywhere. Evergreen.
Hebe Lake Ngatu
Trial Hebe from liz Meek. Fresh foliage tinged maroon with dark pinkish flowers from Feb to March PVR pending Hebes grow best in full sun and good moist soil. Trim after flowering.
Grapefruit Star Ruby
'Star Ruby' comes to us from Texas where it was first introduced. A medium sized Grapefruit with golden skin, and red flesh with an excellent flavour. The fruit is often seedless. 'Star Ruby' likes a nice sheltered position in order to fruit well so plant in a warm sunny spot. Evergreen.
Hazelnut Auckland 2
Hazelnuts are highly valued for their delicious taste plus the fact that they are high in protein and unsaturated fat. 'Auckland 2' flowers over a long period and is valued as a pollinator for other Hazelnuts but it is not considered to be a particularly high producer itself. Deciduous.
Pittosporum Golfball
Native. You'll love this versatile little plant which forms a dense rounded ball of fresh green foliage that seldom needs clipping. Looks fabulous group planted or makes a natural topiary specimen for court-yard containers. Grows well in sun or part shade. PVR.
Lemon Meyer
NZ's most popular lemon and deservedly so. Very juicy and a really good cropper. Once established the tree will seldom be without a lemon. More tolerant of cold than many other lemons. Can you feel a Gin and Tonic coming on? Happiest in a sunny well drained position. Evergreen.
Dahlia Mystic Dreamer
Another stunner from Dr Keith Hammet. Striking deep mahogany to black filagree foliage. From summer through to autumn stems of single pink and white striped blooms with a dark central zone complete the picture. Plant in a sunny spot with protection from harsh frost. Perennial. PVR.
Gardenia Radicans
A spreading dwarf form of the eternally popular Gardenia. Covers itself in a mass of sweetly fragrant flowers from late spring to summer. Ideal as a container plant or use as a ground cover in a warm, frost free position in the garden. Will respond well to regular liquid feeding. Evergreen.
