Agathis Australis - Kauri

NZ's iconic native conifer. Slow growing but well worth the wait as the tree matures into its stately form. When juvenile the foliage tends to have copper bronze tones but as the tree ages green is the more dominant colour. One to plant for your grand children! Estimated 10 year height. Evergreen.

A NZ (oi Oi) Reed with fine grey-green needles of foliage with brown markings at intervals along the length of the leaves. Forms a large clump. Grows in water or in damp ground. Tolerates salty water. Very decorative in a pot and useful for floral work. Tough as. Evergreen.

The NZ Renga Renga Lily is a great landscaping plant. Broad, lush, blue-grey, clump forming foliage and dainty sprays of creamy white blooms in summer. Looks its best mass planted in filtered light though will tolerate some sun. Protect from harsh frost. Perennial.

A delightful dwarf selection of NZ's popular Rengarenga Lily. Forms a nice little clump and looks great when planted en masse. Pretty panicles of white flowers dance above the foliage in spring. Best in part shade with protection from harsh frost. Evergreen.

Asplenium Bulbiferum

This NZ native Fern makes a striking cover plant for shady situations. Looks good group planted beneath established trees and is useful to plant with Hostas carrying on the interest after the Hostas have died down. Likes the shade and nice moist humus rich soil. Protect from frost.

Astelia C Silver Spear

A stunning native cultivar that originates from the Chatham Islands. Strong broad swords of arching foliage toned a sensuous metallis silver. Use in groups for a bold dramatic statement. Tolerant of sun or part shade but hates "wet feet". Looks fabulous in a container. Hardy and evergreen.

Carex Comans

This NZ native grass has light bronze/brown needle like foliage with a drooping habit. Hardy as anything and happily grows just about anywhere. Especially good for bank and retaining plantings. Evergreen.

Carex look particularly good in large drifts where they can swish and sway in the breeze. When old foliage look a little untidy just 'comb' through with a garden scratcher or small fork to remove.

Clematis Purity

Native. A beautiful NZ Clematis hybrid which has large white flowers from spring until summer. Set against the dark green foliage this is a striking climber for a semi-shaded or morning sun spot. Keep the roots cool with a nice layer of mulch. Evergreen. PVR.

Clematis Sweet Hart

Dark green fern like leaves and oh so pretty single white flowers that appear in abundance in the spring make this little Sweet Hart a must have. Its naturally scrambling habit make it perfect for draping over banks and walls and it looks great in a hanging basket. Evergreen.

As with all Clematis 'Sweet Hart' prefers to have a cool root run so it is important to keep the base of the plant well mulched. It will perform its best in a sheltered position.
