Yucca Elephantipes

If you want a no fuss plant that makes a dramatic architectural statement then it would be hard to go past the 'Spineless Yucca'. The stiff sword shaped leaves are an attractive fresh green and stand out proudly along the stiff upright woody stems. Happiest in a sunny well drained position. Evergreen.

Yucca Filamentosa

A bold landscaping plant with large rosettes of stiff sword like, grey-green leaves that are edged with white threads. The leaves can be up to 1m long. In summer tall spikes of nodding white flowers appear and open at night (nyctinasty). Likes the sun and light well drained soil. Hardy and evergreen.

Yucca's look their best when planted in groups of 3 or more. They can be used as a container plant - once again best in a group. Remove the flower spike completely after flowering. RHS AGM.
