Rosa sancta Richardii
Species - Wild Rose. A hardy and tolerant rose with a sprawling habit. Single blooms of softest blush pink will perfume the summer garden with their sweet scent. The blooms have silken golden stamens in the centre. An ancient Rose introduced to 'modern' gardens in the 19th C from Ethiopia.
This rose was commonly used for planting in monastery gardens and around tombs hence the common name of the 'Holy Rose'. It is tolerant of some shade and poorer soils. Definitely a collectors 'must have'.
