How we began...
In 1990 we saw a piece of beautiful Waikato land in the heart of Gordonton which was just what we were looking for in order to satisfy our passion for the land and our love of plants. We started with a roadside stall selling herbs. Before long a skyline garage was installed on the site, a staff member was taken on during the weekends, and Wairere Nursery was established. Our business has grown over the years from its humble beginnings into one of the top Nurseries in the country.
We have not only increased the size of the nursery, but we have developed a beautiful garden on the property, which, with its water features and interesting landscape, has always been much admired. The design of the garden is classical and has many highlights. The magnificent lake creates peace and harmony within the overall picture and many a memorable function has been held in this spectacular setting, from weddings to charity events. The garden centre is open to the public and we have hosted many groups for garden visits.
The growth of the business has also been reflected by the proliferation of buildings on the property. In the early days there was just a house-truck, but progress has resulted in two Heritage homes being moved on to the property. One has now become the Administration Office, and the second one is our home. A smaller cottage has also been built in the colonial style to match the surroundings and is a family dwelling. Do come and visit our nursery as we stock top quality plants in a beautiful environment, and you will also go away with plenty of new ideas for your own garden.
Happy gardening!

Pets of Wairere
The livestock around the nursery enhances the rural nature of the property and many children and adults have been fascinated by the interesting variety of free-range hens, doves and many four legged pets.
