Non fruiting Apricot Tree (from ) Tuesday, 4th December 2007 11:41:55 AM
My inlaws have a large, well established apricot tree they planted 14 years ago and the most apricots it has ever had is 4. They purchased it from a garden centre, but cannot remember the variety, only that it fruits late summer. Any ideas before they give it the chop!

Apricots are typically south Island fruiting trees as they need a period of stress as in winter cold or summer dryness to fruit well. However I do beleive that there are varieties that fruit better in warmer climates and occasionally due to a cold winter the apricot may fruit.
