Ballerina in a pot (from Donna)
Saturday, 26th April 2008 09:43:06 PM

Hi I'm inspired to grow the Ballerina apple tree in a pot and I see you stock them. How big should the pot be, when should I plant it, what composition should be soil be and what position in my garden should I put it?

Hi there To grow fruit successfully in a pot you will need to get the biggest tub that you can - the half barrels work really well, or a clay pot of any sort. Fill it with a good quality potting mix that has a lot of compost in the mix and place it in full sun. With potted edibles, you must ensure that it never fully dries out, but don't drown it either. Now is the very best time to plant it so that the roots can settle before it gets too cold and it will be ready to shoot in the spring. Good luck with your Ballerina.
