Rust problem (from Ini)
Monday, 10th November 2008 08:15:18 PM

Three of my modern large-flowered climber roses (Breath of Life, Meg, and Papi Delbar) have rust at the moment. Crupuscule (old noisette) is next to them but fine. Are modern ones more prone to rust? What about mildew and black spot? I sprayed copper oxychloride today but I am going to use sulphur soon. What do you think?

Rust is difficult to control and some roses are more susceptible than others - the old varieites do tend to be more resistant. Spray with Mancozeb or Shield - but the important thing is to strip all infected foliage to try to control it. Good luck
