Hot Stuff for your Summer Garden!
It’s summer time and here at Wairere we’ve got all the plants you need to make your summer garden look bright and gay.
Before we get to all the ‘hot’ plants let’s talk about shade. Walk around your garden and think about the ideal place for planting the perfect shade tree. Somewhere you would like to sit and relax under a canopy of green on lazy, hazy summer days. Gleditsia, Robinia, Elms, Beeches and Prunus are all beautiful summer shade trees and stock is still available. Whilst summer is not the traditional tree planting time with diligent watering your tree will establish quickly in the warmth.
At Wairere have a great selection of brightly coloured heat lovers for sumptuous summer displays. Pelargoniums (Geraniums), Hemerocallis (Day Lilies), Gazania, Canna and Arctotis all love the heat. We also stock an excellent colour range of the fabulous new Garvinea Gerberas bred for hardiness and maximum flower power.
For containers and baskets perennial Petunias and Calibrachoa are easy care and will flower for months. Soften all the ‘brights’ with an edging of Lavender, Rosemary or Teucrium – as a general rule grey leafed plants are very tolerant of hot dry conditions. And, yes of course we can help you find that perfect perfumed rose to make your summer garden complete.
