Roses are easy to grow and are amongst the most tolerant of plants. Obviously, with the correct feeding and cultivation techniques they will perform to their absolute best. However even if you are the most neglectful gardener you should still be able to enjoy the perfection of a rose bush in bloom. Floribunda. One of the very best purple roses with richly coloured deep purple petals that gently fade to lilac. At its best when fully open. Very fragrant and a strong grower with good disease resistant. 1991. PVR.

Floribunda. This rose is well named as it is in deed very 'Opulent'. Darkest red buds open to reveal large red blooms that are delightfully fluted and ruffled. A very generous rose with an abundance of blooms from spring until autumn. Soft fragrance, good strong, compact grower. PVR 1995.
I grow this rose in my garden and find it to be very reliable and a good performer. Seldom without a flower through-out the season.

Gallica. Large fragrant flowers that are fully double appear throughout summer and are set against grey-green foliage. The blooms are a rich purple-crimson tone with fiery red centres. Strong upright habit and a good tolerance of poorer soils. Suitable for a robust hedge. From England around 1848.

New season rose. Shapely, warm, yellow blooms with a subtle fragrance that never seems to be without a flower through the season. Good for picking, mid green foliage with good disease resistance and good health. Commemorates the 150th anniversary of the University of Otago Bred by Rob Somerfield, released 2019.

Austin. Strong sturdy stems carry large showy flowers throughout summer. These are initially blood-red and then fade to tones of purple with age. The fragrance is extremely strong. This rose is happiest with rich soil and likes regular feeding. 1987 PVR.

Modern Shrub. You will love this rose as it is seldom out of bloom and it has a delicious spicy clove fragrance. he flowers are shaded purple and mauve. They have creamy white centre and a light reverse on the petals that ensures the blooms really stand out. PVR. 2000.

Floribunda. Pacific Glory has masses of blooms in large clusters in a unique colour combination of lavender, pink and tan. Relatively tall with very dark glossy foliage. Good disease resistance.
