Intricate, delicate, fascinating... these are words that spring to mind when I think of Leucospermum flowers. Their common name, pincushion flower, certainly gives a resemblance of what they look like but when you really look at them they are so much more. Predominately native to South Africa these plants like a warm setting. Full sun is paramount and excellent drainage too so these guys don't get wet feet. These range from low growing ground covers to small trees and all have beautifully, colourful, pincushions at the end of their branches.
An outstanding new Hybrid with an erect spreading habit. Lovely red flowerheads are borne terminally on long stems ideal for picking in mid Spring. Prune back well once flowering has finished to encourage a good flowering the following year. Ideal coastal plant, suited to well drained acidic soils in full sun. Evergreen.
